Awards are not something that we or our members actively seek, but when they come along we see them as a recognition of the work we have been doing to support people in Rwanda.
Brief details of some awards follow.
MBE for a trustee.
In the Queen's Birthday Honours list of 2013 it was announced that Trustee Jane Morgan has been awarded an MBE for services to midwifery in the UK and to Maternity Service Provision in Shyira, Rwanda. She was presented with the award on 7th February 2014.
Community Heroes award
St. Luke’s Church, Formby, and its registered charity, the Shyira Trust, were jointly awarded a Community Heroes “Team of the Year” award for their work with the People of Shyira, Rwanda. Community Heroes is organised by the Rotary Clubs of Sefton and West Lancashire in conjunction with Scottish Power and the news group Mediamix. The award was one of 30 presented by Roy Jones of Scottish Power and Debi Jones at a glittering evening on 4th June 2007.
The award consisted of a certificate, picture below, and a plaque picture above.
MBE for our chairman.
In the Queens Birthday Honours List of 2012 it was announced that our chairman, Allan Hobson, had been awarded an MBE for "Services to the Community in Liverpool and Rwanda." He received the award from Her Majesty at Buckingham Palace on Friday 19th October 2012. The picture below was taken outside the palace after the presentation.
